UNDER THE STREET LIGHTS
In the city Summer night, and though warm,
Leah to me holds tight, of this I feel joy not slight,
As we walk past the shimmering posts of street lights.
Then in quiet restraunt we sit,
The place half-quiet, but our emotions large make it to us a close fit,
And as the candles flicker, your face soft lit,
Thoughts of your beauty my heart eager flits,
Into memory forever your features fit,
And as our hands touch, I think how can this world hold love so much?
My lips caress your palm and in your eyes my soul enfolds,
Like sinking in sea of liquid gold,
Thus from our selves one presence, one bliss is finely mould,
The power of our united souls my courage made bold,
And to soft music, together in dance, in rythm,
Her flesh held in mine is like mystic sign,
For no longer am I man of thought,
Here is all I have ever sought.
So in my body, her passion, our passion is swift brought,
And in our bed love's battle is fought,
From two souls one ecstatic spirit wrought,
For in surrendering self to beloved one,
The creation of love is eternally won........
